Motion Picture Glass Inc. supplies fabricated aluminum gimbal windows and storefront doors along with textured glass.
Aluminum Extrusions

Extrusion is a process used to create objects of a fixed, cross-sectional profile. A material is pushed or drawn through a die of the desired cross-section. The two main advantages of this process over other manufacturing processes are its ability to create very complex cross-sections and work materials that are brittle, because the material only encounters compressive and shear stresses. It also forms finished parts with an excellent surface finish.

A gimbal is a pivoted support that allows the rotation of an object about a single axis. A set of three gimbals, one mounted on the other with orthogonal pivot axes, may be used to allow an object mounted on the innermost gimbal to remain independent of the rotation of its support (cf. vertical in the first animation). For example: on a ship, the gyroscopes, shipboard compasses, stoves, and even drink holders, typically use gimbals to keep them upright with respect to the horizon despite the ship's pitching and rolling.

Storefront Doors / Herculite Doors

All storefront doors are available in single acting offset pivot, butt hinge or center pivot operation. All doors are produced to specific size requirement in widths and heights. Standard finishes are Clear anodized, Mill finish or Bronze anodized aluminum, custom paint and anodized finishes available. These doors can be paired with a variety of handle hardware, panic hardware and upon request supplied with locks.
